Middle Creek has selected its next athletic director.
Principal Wade Martin announced Wednesday that baseball coach Jeremy Thompson will take over as athletic director after Lewis Owens announced he plans to step down from the position at the end of the school year.
Thompson has been at Middle Creek since 2005, teaching mathematics and serving as the head baseball coach. As the baseball coach, Thompson has been named the Tri-9 Coach of the Year three times. He was the 2012 Regional Coach of the Year after leading the Mustangs to the 4-A state championship.
Thompson will take over as athletic director on July 1. Martin said Lewis and Thompson are working together on a transition plan this spring as Thompson finishes out the baseball season as the head coach.
